In 2007, a young woman named Rhodi Hawk won a scholarship from the International Thriller Writers to complete her first novel. A Twisted Ladder is the phenomenal end product. Essentially abandoned by their schizophrenic father, Madeleine and Marc LeBlanc pretty much raised themselves. Now Maddie is a psychologist at Tulane University—while Marc’s body has just been found floating in a bayou. Distraught over her brother’s apparent suicide, Madeleine plunges into her family’s dark history…even back to TerreFleurs, the abandoned plantation where strange and sinister things once occurred. What she learns is that the ghosts of the past have a terrifying way of reaching into the future—and now they’re reaching out for her!

I found this book very interesting. She used many real things form New Orleans whish made it seem almost real. O'd recomemed it to any one looking for a envolved read.

I stopped about two thirds of the way through. The heroine fluttered around a lot and - of course - repeatedly did stupid things. Shortly before I stopped, another character became more prominent. I must have missed it because I didn't know what the significance of this character was. They were simply irritating. Pass on it.

Wow - this book is so weird. The title is perfect - it really is twisted. However, I could not put it down; I stayed up until 3am one night and until 1:30 am the next just to finish the book. It left me unsettled like I'd just read something disturbing but also feeling like the author had really created something totally new and different. I am not sure I can give this an out and out recommendation, but I can tell you I do not regret that I did read it.
