Known for his chilling fiction, Dean Koontz shows his softer side in this memoir of the dog who changed his family forever. In A Big Little Life, the #1 New York Times novelist recalls being blissfully married to the love of his life when into their world came a golden retriever who had suffered an injury that brought her career as a service dog to a close. Trixie lit up the Koontz home with her radiant personality, and in the years to come, her profound intelligence continually amazed the author and his wife, Gerda. Even the sorrow of Trixie’s passing cannot diminish the sheer joy of this devoted tribute that combines Koontz’s extraordinary gift as a writer with recollections that come straight from his heart to yours.

It was an okay read, but wish I would have borrowed it or checked it out at the library. I found it somewhat simplistic but still gave to a co-worker to read.
I would have loved to have met Trixie. I have two German Shepherds, 5 cats and twelve fish so I love animal books. "Merles Door" by Ted Kerasote was much better.
It was interesting to read how Mr. Koontz got into writing horror books.

I enjoyed reading this book. Trixie had so many similar characteristics to our dog(including the intruder story) that I could totally relate. It brought back many wonderful, but heart wrenching memories for me. A must read for people who really understand and love their dogs and cats!

I liked the book but it was a little boring. It was definitely not like any of his other books. Not what I expected. An OK but not great read

Koontz is a great storyteller. This is a heartwarming book that exemplifies the love a good dog can give.
