When 36-year-old Gal Garner isn’t teaching her high school biology classes or receiving life-sustaining dialysis at the hospital, she’s in her beloved rose garden. Tough and demanding in the classroom, Gal is equally dedicated to developing a spectacular new species that will win Queen of Show in competition—and success is near. If only Gal could say the same about finding a kidney donor. But with the arrival of her troubled niece Riley, the teenaged daughter of Gal’s estranged sister, her outlook begins to change….
Margaret Dilloway’s The Care and Handling of Roses With Thorns tells the story of a woman who never thought she could realize the same hopes and dreams of her peers…until she experiences the redemptive power of love.
