Jaycee Dugard was only 11 years old when she was abducted, forced into a gray sedan within sight of her home in peaceful South Lake Tahoe, California. The date was June 10, 1991, and she was held captive by her kidnappers—Phillip Craig Garrido and his wife, Nancy—in their home for the next 18 years. Every parent’s nightmare, what she endured is unimaginable, but how she survived is equally astonishing.
A Stolen Life, written by the now 30-year-old Jaycee, is a gripping memoir that covers her abduction, her captivity and her incredible rescue on August 26, 2009. In her stark, compelling narrative, Jaycee opens up about what she experienced, including how she feels now, a year after being found. She leaves nothing out.

This was a very good book. Jaycee is a strong wonderful girl who suffered so much yet has no hate! I'm so glad her story had a happy ending and she ended up being so positive. I hope she meets a wonderful man and her life becomes complete. She sounds very smart for only completing up to the 5th grade!

This book was so sad, to read about Jaycee's kidnapping was very heartbreaking, I give her a lot of credit for being strong and telling her story! She's a true survivor.

I live a few miles away from where Jaycee was abducted. So, this has always hit close to home for me. My son was her age when she was taken, I thought about her everyday for years! You have to read Jaycee's story to get it.She is an inspiration to every woman. And if you have ever suffered any kind of abuse you will see a bit of yourself in Jaycee. What a smart, positive, beautiful woman she turned out to be. Despite the sickness that became her life for so long.
